Coaching for Results provides the knowledge and skills to be a more effective coach. Module 1: Introduction to Coaching
Coaching is a powerful management practice for helping your employees reach their full potential. During this module, we define coaching and explore the rewards it offers. We also discuss sources of coaching and where to spend your coaching time.
Module 2: The Coaching Process
Every person you coach and every coaching situation is unique. The process that you use to coach, however, should remain fundamentally the same. During this module, we introduce a step-by-step coaching process that can be applied to different situations.
Module 3: Coaching Success Factors
What makes great coaches “great”? Effective coaches consistently apply specific skills and techniques during the coaching process. During this module, we explore a variety of coaching and feedback skills to ensure that you are an effective coach.
Module 4: Coaching Back on the Job
We practice the coaching process and the coaching success factors to help build confidence and contribute to your success as a coach. We discuss potential obstacles along with strategies to overcome them. We also identify important next steps for implementing coaching in your workplace.

Strategic Problem Solving

Strategic Problem Solving provides techniques for identifying problems, assessing root causes, considering potential solutions, selecting a course of action, and ensuring that the problem is resolved.

Module 1: Strategic Problem Solving
During this introductory module, we identify a list of business issues or problems that are within the participant’s span of control. We also define and present strategic problem solving as a consistent, proven method for moving from problem to solution, yielding results every time.
Module 2: Defining the Problem
During this module, we discuss real workplace problems, prioritized by severity, frequency, and relationship to the organization’s goals. This module affords participants the opportunity to examine a specific workplace problem and develop a clear and concise description of the problem.
Module 3: Identifying Root Causes
During this module, we diagnose the problem by identifying its most probable root causes. We apply visual data analysis techniques to prove the relationship between the suspected root causes and the problem.
Module 4: Selecting Solutions
This module develops participants’ skills and abilities to “think outside the box” and to generate a large list of potential solutions. The module also demonstrates how to apply evaluative tools to narrow the list according to the feasibility and effectiveness of each option.
Module 5: Verifying Results
During this module, we discuss methods for ensuring that the problem is resolved and does not recur. The module demonstrates how problem resolution can strengthen relationships with customers and among team members.

Module 1: Presenting for Results
As a professional, you need to be able to present effectively. Presenting and communicating information are key skills that can increase your effectiveness, contribute to your success, and generate results for you and your organization. During this module, we provide the skills and tools you need to be an effective presenter.
Module 2: Assessing Your Audience
Many presenters believe the audience assessment phase is the most critical step toward ensuring a successful presentation. During this module we explore ways to adequately assess your audience so you can ensure a “connection” right from the start of your presentation.
Module 3: Preparing Your Presentation
Preparation is probably the most important aspect of being an accomplished presenter. Though it takes time, it is worth the investment to have a presentation that is well structured and follows the proper sequence. During this module, we outline a sequence of steps for preparing a strong presentation, as well as a sequence for delivering your presentation.
Module 4: Using Visual Aids and Managing Logistics
With careful choice, visual aids reinforce your message and engage your audience. During this module, we review the variety of visual aids available and discuss how to select the ones that best suit your presentation.
Module 5: Delivering Your Presentation
You have identified your objective, assessed your audience, developed your presentation, and enhanced it with visual aids. The next step is delivery. During this module, we discuss ways to manage your fears around presenting. We look at ways to enhance your presentation through body language, tone of voice, and gestures.
Videotaped Sessions
This course includes an opportunity for participants to practice delivering actual presentations that reflect real-life situations. Participants will be videotaped, and will receive feedback and coaching.

The Art of Communication
Communication is arguably the most important skill in life, and how well you communicate is directly correlated to how well you succeed in the workplace. The Art of Communication provides the knowledge and skills required for effective communication, including those tough conversations.

Module 1: Connecting through Communication
During this module, we define the term “communication”, outline the different levels of communication, and explore the best channels of communication to use, depending on the message.
Module 2: You as a Communicator
This module is about you—how your thoughts, beliefs, feelings and perceptions affect the way you communicate. During this module, we investigate the effect our thoughts and beliefs on have on communication, and discuss the powerful impact of nonverbal communication.
Module 3: Conversation Starters
Conversation starters are the casual conversations that begin almost every communication. They play an important role because they create an impression and open the way to build rapport and develop relationships. In this module, we explore ways you can initiate a conversation and keep it rolling.
Module 4: Conducting Meaningful Conversations
Due to the increased complexity of today’s business environment, no single individual has all of the information needed to solve problems or make decisions. During this module, we explore what makes a conversation meaningful and introduce the tools and techniques for conducting meaningful conversations.
Module 5: Tackling Tough Conversations
Right now there’s probably someone you should speak to about an important issue. Maybe you’re avoiding the conversation, or have tried once without success and are reluctant to try again. During this module, we explore how to prepare for tough conversations, and we investigate skills to deal with the emotions that arise.
Performance Outcomes:
- Define communication and describe what effective communication looks like in the workplace.
- Apply self-management tools to ensure the communicator is aware of what they bring to the conversation.
- Ask effective questions and listen for understanding, articulate their viewpoint confidently, and work toward consensus and agreement.
- Conduct tough conversations confidently and successfully.
